"Stipple Deer" is an original design drawn in a stipple dotwork hand, and it knows exactly what it is about. Animals carry their meaning without a word of lettering — posture, eye and silhouette do all the talking, which is why the drawing spends its effort there. It was drawn by Site Administrator, one of the independent artists selling original work through Tattoo Art Customs.

What you are buying is the working pair: full-color finished art plus the clean linework stencil your artist will transfer to skin. The preview here is linework only by design — the color version is delivered privately after purchase. And if it is almost right — a name worked in, different flowers, the composition flipped to fit the other arm — order it as a custom variation and an artist will redraw it to your notes.

Dotwork rewards patience: the design is mapped as a field of points, and the image only resolves when you step back from it. Fine work like this ages best with a little room around it — forearm, inner arm, ankle, shoulder blade or ribs are classic placements, and your artist will want to size it so the smallest lines stay honest as the skin settles over the years; the detailed passages usually want to be at least palm-sized.

Tattooing notes: Dotwork

Placement: Soft stippled gradients forgive curvature — arms, calves, thighs, shoulders and backs all work. Hands and feet blur the fine grain fastest.

Size: Gradients need room to stay grainy instead of merging into grey: three inches minimum for simple work, five and up for detailed stippled scenes.

How it ages: One of the gentlest-aging styles: dots soften into the gradient rather than losing detail. Sparse fine fields may want a refresh after some years.
