Take tap-to-pay in your shop
Your customers tap their card or phone on yours. No card reader, no extra hardware — just your phone.
📲
How it works
Turn on PayPal Tap to Pay on your phone — free, about five minutes. PayPal takes 2.29% + 9¢ per tap; the rest is yours.
⚖️
One flat monthly fee
Solo $9.99/mo for one chair, Studio $19.99/mo for 2–4 chairs, Shop $29.99/mo for 5+ chairs. A standalone service, billed separately from your shop subscription — keep the bill current to keep the service. Optional: add half a percent to the customer's bill at the register — 50¢ on a $100 tattoo — to cover some or all of the fee.

How a tap-to-pay sale works in your shop
- Turn it on once. Activate a tier below and switch on PayPal Tap to Pay in your phone's PayPal app — about five minutes, no reader to buy, charge, or lose.
- Ring up like always. When the piece is done, enter the total and hold out your phone. The client taps their card, phone, or watch; deposits and tips ride the same tap.
- The money is PayPal's rail, the fee is known. PayPal takes 2.29% + 9¢ per tap and the rest is yours. If you turn on the optional register pass-through, half a percent lands on the client's bill instead — about 50¢ on a $100 tattoo.
Questions shops ask us
Do I need a card reader or a terminal?
No. Your phone is the terminal — that is the whole point. If your phone can run the PayPal app and take a tap, it can take the payment.
Is this part of my Tattoo Art Customs shop subscription?
No — tap-to-pay is a standalone service with its own monthly tier (Solo, Studio, or Shop, by chairs), billed separately from your shop subscription. Keep the tap-to-pay bill current and the service stays on; the two never hold each other hostage.
What does my shop get beyond the tap?
A listed shop on Tattoo Art Customs gets a referral link that pays 20% on every verified sale it refers, plus a public listing with your location, hours, and appointment requirements. The full picture is on the shop membership page and in our guide for tattoo shops.
