Getting the glow right is a value game: the darker the surrounding tones are laid in, the brighter the lit passages read. Give soft work room: a larger placement lets the gradients breathe instead of crowding them, and flatter areas of the body keep the atmosphere of the piece intact.

How it ages: Light washes fade first — watercolor lives or dies on its anchor. Dark values and a linework core underneath keep it readable; sunscreen is essential.
