World Weather — Privacy Policy

Who we are
World Weather (Android app com.usefulappz.worldweather) is developed by Usefulappz™ (Mike Kelley). Contact: mikekelleyii.mk2@gmail.com
The short version
World Weather has no account and no server of ours. We receive and store nothing about you. The app fetches forecasts straight from public weather services to your device, and the only information that ever leaves your phone is the place you ask about — a city name, a ZIP code, or, only when you tap the location button, your coordinates — sent to those weather services so they can answer.
Location, only when you tap
- World Weather does not track your location and never reads it in the background.
- Your device location is used only when you tap "Use my location." Android will ask your permission first. If you never tap it, the app never asks for or uses your location.
- When you do tap it, your coordinates are sent to the weather and geocoding services listed below so they can return the forecast and alerts for where you are. We do not receive a copy, and nothing is stored on any server of ours.
- Places you type instead — a town name or a ZIP code — are likewise sent only to those services, to find the forecast you asked for.
The services the app talks to
Forecasts and place lookups come directly from these providers, under their own privacy policies:
- Open-Meteo — forecasts and place-name search.
- U.S. National Weather Service (weather.gov) — active weather alerts for U.S. locations.
- Zippopotam — U.S. ZIP code lookup.
- BigDataCloud — turning coordinates from the location button into a place name.
As with any internet request, those services can see the technical details a request carries (such as your IP address). That is between your device and them; we operate no part of it and keep no logs.
What the app stores
Nothing on our side — there is no "our side." Any preference the app remembers (such as Fahrenheit or Celsius) stays in the app on your own device. Uninstalling the app erases it.
Permissions, and why
- Internet: to fetch forecasts, alerts, and place lookups from the services above.
- Location (approximate and precise): used only when you tap "Use my location," as described above. Optional — the app works fully by typed place name or ZIP code.
Ads and tracking
This version of World Weather contains no advertising SDK and no analytics, and it does not track you. The app's screens include labeled placeholder spaces reserved for a future version; nothing in them collects data.
Children
World Weather is a general-audience weather utility. It is not directed at children under 13, and — as described above — it collects no data for us from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
